The Choir of St. Chrysostom's Church

One of chicago's premier choral ensembles, the Choir of St. Chrysostom's Church is nationally renowned for its excellence, known especially for its singing of early music.  The Choir is a mixed, professional choir of 15 voices and sings at the main services of the Parish throughout the year.   The Choir's repertoire extends from the 15th century to the present and includes works commissioned by St. Chrysostom's Church from Bruce Saylor and Frank Ferko.

St. Chrysostom's Singers

This dedicated Choir is composed of volunteer parishioners and community singers who join together to lead service music during the summer months and with The Choir for various services during the Choir Season.  The Singers take part in the annual Advent Lessons and Carols, and the Epiphany Lessons and Carols services.  A notable feature of this Choir’s repertoire is the annual service of Tenebrae, sung on Wednesday evening of Holy Week.  All enthusiastic singers are invited to join this choir.  There is no audition but you must be able to sight-read music.  Richard Hoskins began this choir in 1985 as a means of involving parishioners in the musical life of the parish.

The Children's Choirs

So many children have found the Children’s Choir a wonderful vehicle for learning how to sing, read music, and become familiar with the hymns and great choral music of the church.  Begun by Richard Hoskins the 1980’s as theChurch School began to grow, these Choirs have flourished, teaching music skills to children, providing a warm introduction to Parish involvement, and giving children a place in this Parish to express themselves.   The Children's Choirs include a Training Choir for children aged 5-8, and an advanced Choir for children aged 8-12. We use the Training Scheme of the Royal School of Church Music, awarding ribbons and medals each year on Chorister Sunday in May.
